Grace For The Journey: Faith, Hope & Strength

Have you ever had one of those days when everything feels like too much? The dishes still need to be cleaned, the laundry seems never-ending, and your to-do list feels more like a burden than a guide.

Being a mom can often feel like an endless cycle of care, responsibility, and self-doubt. However, amid those overwhelming moments, we can find joy in the Lord. These overwhelming moments are an opportunity to lean into grace, embrace faith, and uncover a strength you didn’t know you had. “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.” ( Psalms 46:1)

I’m learning all the more that this journey of life isn’t about perfection; it’s about perseverance. It’s about finding God’s presence and knowing Him, wanting a relationship with Him in every chaotic hour and every quiet breath. Be encouraged to know that God’s love is with you even in those tired moments and days.

Every day, you get up and keep going because you believe, and you’re doing it even when you “feel” like you’re barely doing your best to hold it all together—for your kids, your spouse, your home—but inside, you may feel weary. Know that you’re not alone. And more importantly, you’re not forgotten. God sees you. He knows you; He knows your heart, your effort, and your exhaustion. And during it all, He offers you something more powerful: grace.

1. God’s Grace is a Gift, Not Something to Earn

Ephesians 2:8 reminds us, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”

As moms, we often feel like we have to earn everything—love, rest, approval, and even God’s favor. But grace flips that script. It tells us we are loved just as we are. It reminds us that God is with us, even when the dishes are not done, the laundry isn’t put away, and we lose our cool, and our tempers flare.

When life feels overwhelming, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking you must earn your worth or prove yourself through endless busyness. But God’s grace reminds us that our abilities or our inabilities don’t measure our values. His grace is His gift to us, freely given, not because of what we do but because of who He is, His love towards us, and that doesn’t change.

In your moments of weariness, lean into this truth: You are already enough, not because of your accomplishments, but because God says so, and He has proven it in Jesus. You are enough because you are loved by a God who sees beyond your struggles. He doesn’t expect perfection; He offers peace. “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.” (John 14:27). Take comfort in knowing that His grace is sufficient for you, no matter how chaotic life may seem. “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (II Corinthians 12:9).

This grace isn’t just a theological concept—it’s practical. It’s the whisper in your heart that says, “You can rest.” It’s the permission to leave the dishes undone for a moment of stillness. It’s the assurance that, even when you feel like you’re falling short or falling apart, God is filling the gaps. His grace is available in both the chaotic and quiet moments.

2. Faith is the Firm Foundation

When everything around you feels unstable, we stand in faith, and hope is our firm foundation. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Even when you can’t see the outcome or don’t know how everything will get done, your faith keeps you grounded as you navigate through the day.

Faith is finding strength in our living hope, Jesus. We have hope in Jesus and the price He paid to give us life. Faith doesn’t mean the absence of struggles; it means finding strength in the midst of them. It’s the quiet assurance that God is present in every moment, working all things together for good, even when the path ahead seems unclear.

In seasons of doubt or uncertainty, having faith helps us to keep believing the promises of God, reminding us that we are not navigating life’s storms alone. It’s through faith that we find the courage to persevere, trusting that His plan is greater than our understanding. It reminds you that God is at work behind the scenes. He’s walking with you in every moment of the day.

3. You Are Stronger Than You Feel

Isaiah 40:31 encourages us: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

There is strength in you, not because of your effort alone, but because God lives in you through the Holy Spirit, and He empowers you. His strength is truly made perfect in our weaknesses. However, this strength isn’t something you have to try to muster up on your own; it is renewed daily by God. It’s the quiet resilience that pushes you to take one more step when the weight of the world feels too heavy. It’s the ability to hold space for both exhaustion and hope, knowing that God’s power is made perfect in your weakness. When you feel overwhelmed, my friend, remember that His strength is limitless, and it flows freely to those who seek it.

Allow yourself to pause long enough to feel His presence, to hear His voice whispering in your heart,

You are capable, and you are able because I am with you.” Strength is not about never falling; it’s about rising again, fueled by the faith that He will never leave you nor forsake you.

When you feel like you can’t take another step, take one anyway because that’s when you can trust Him to carry you to the other side. Through His eyes, see yourself on the other side.

4. Motivation from Grace, Not Guilt

We all like to be motivated and pushed a little to get us up and going. However, let motivation come from love and purpose, not pressure and perfection. Faith is not merely a passive state but an active choice—a constant invitation to trust, to hope, and to believe every word God has given us and to believe in the hope we have in the Lord Jesus. Faith strengthens our soul against discouragement, reminding us that there’s greater in every step forward in the right direction.

Through faith, we learn to surrender, not in defeat, but in confidence that His ways are higher than ours. Once again, we rely on His unfailing love in all things. As you face the challenges of each day, remember that faith is about believing in God and His word, even when the outcome is uncertain. Believe that God walks with you every step of the way.

God didn’t call you to be a superwoman; He called you to be faithful. Faithful in believing that He is who He has said He is, and He gave the son of His love to prove His love to you.

Be encouraged to take a moment each day to talk with Him and be in fellowship with Him. After all, He is your father. So, take time to pray. Ask for what you need: peace, patience, and perspective. You don’t have to do it all, and you don’t have to do it alone.

5. Practical Ways to Stay Encouraged

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (I Thess. 5:16-18)

  • Start Your Day with a Scripture. Even five minutes in God’s Word can reset your heart.
  • Speak the Truth in God’s Word: Try to memorize your favorite verses from God’s Word.
  • Write Down Your Gratitude: Note those things you’re thankful for.
  • Ask for Help When You Need It: God often sends help through the community, friends, family, or even a kind stranger.
  • Rest Without Guilt: Rest is holy. Even Jesus took time to recharge.

Closing Encouragement

Remember, you are not failing. You are rising. You are growing. You are walking in grace, even when it doesn’t feel that way. Progress takes time, and faith flourishes in small, intentional steps. So, keep stepping, one foot in front of the other. Celebrate the little victories, whether it’s finding a moment of quiet in the chaos or recognizing the beauty in every challenge. Let gratitude light your path and remind you that you are growing, even in seasons where growth feels hard to see.

Keep showing up. Keep believing. Keep moving forward. God is with you, cheering you on and pouring out fresh strength and love for each new day.

You’ve got this, and favorably, He’s got you.

Be Encouraged!
