Have you ever had a moment when the baby’s crying, your exhausted from your day and not too sure of what to do? Well, I certainly have had my share of days with crying and craziness. Of course, the baby was crying while I was going crazy.

What I’ve learned from years of parenting is when there’s a crying baby. Then there’s an unsolved or unheard problem that needs a resolution and if possible in a speedy resolution.

For instance, when my kiddos start crying my mommy radar goes off, and I need answers.

It’s like my brain automatically fires off a list of question. The who, what, where, how and why. Who did it? Why? What happened? What do you need? How can I help? What do you want? 1. Check to see if the baby’s diaper needs changing.

2. The baby may be hungry, so try to offer the bottle.

3. Give a bath. Most often a warm, soothing bath can help calm a fussy adult, so I’m sure it will work even better for a baby.

4. Examine the baby to make sure there’s no sign of fever or illness.

5. Rock away the blues while listening to gentle melodies especially if the baby is sleeping and is trying to fight off and avoid sleep time.

6. Offer the baby or child something to eat. For instance, a healthy snack can help or offer lunch or dinner a little early if meal time is not too far away.

7. Go for a walk, a bit of fresh air is an excellent way to distress for the kids and me. It’s even better around water, for instance, a lake or display water fountain.

8. Play a game, include older siblings or go at it solo. We all know the favorite baby games such as peek a boo and hide and seek.

9. Sing baby’s favorite nursery rhyme. Make it fun and engaging or get creative and make up a song.

10. Put on some fun tunes, make some moves and start dancing even if you can’t dance the key is to move, so jump up and down or around.

In short, we love our babies and enjoy all our time with them. However, when they start crying it can be a bit difficult to get them to stop. I know for me my main goal is to find out what’s wrong and calm the storm. These ten ideas are sure to help with calming the little ones.
